Templates and scenarios of the new FRITZ system!OS - everyday comfort

In everyone there is probably a little bit of laziness, and at the same time a desire to rule the world around us. Version 7 of FRITZ OS, the operating system for FRITZ routers!Box, meets exactly these strings. The Smart Home functions implemented in FRITZ OS allow you to automate the operation of home appliances according to the requirements or even the whims of the household members.

Contrary to what it may seem at first glance, today's Internet routers are small computers. They have processors, operating memory, and - especially in the case of FRITZ solutions! - An extensive operating system with a user-friendly configuration interface.
For example, wiFi router 6 FRITZ!The Box 5590 Fiber is based on a powerful ARM Cortex-A53 quad-core processor, but uses two additional computing units to support Wi-Fi and fiber interface.

With a power backup under the hood, FRITZ routers!Boxes allow you to take full advantage of modern, over gigabit Internet connections, realizing in addition a wide range of comfort functions, which include smart home Smart Home.

For the still developing line of home automation devices from under the FRITZ sign! currently consist of: the FRITZ DECT thermostat!DECT 301/302, FRITZ smart light source!DECT 500, FRITZ controllable outlet!DECT 200/210 and a range of accessories for easy expansion and system management, such as FRITZ!DECT Repeater 100, range extending, configurable FRITZ button!DECT 440, or FRITZ magnetic reed switch!DECT 350, signaling the opening of doors or windows.
Having several, or even - thanks to additional gateways - more than a dozen sensors and effectors in our network, we need the right tool to control their work, as expected.

Automation in FRITZ OS

Automation in FRITZ OS is implemented through hierarchically arranged templates, scenarios and routines. The automation configured in the home assistant functionality allows you to depend on the operation or deactivation of individual functions not only on the basis of the timer, but the entire calendar, including the astronomical calendar, which will allow the device to adapt to the changing time of dusk and dawn. However, this is not the end of the story. FRITZ home assistant is able to depend on the operation of one device over another and on the indications of built-in sensors.

FRITZ OS templates

Smart Home templates allow you to combine devices of the same type into groups and control them simultaneously.

You can easily create FRITZ OS templates using a friendly wizard in the web configurator, which takes you through the configuration process step by step.

Once we have created the appropriate templates, combining, for example, lighting in a room, central heating thermostats, FRITZ OS scenarios will allow us to schedule the operation of various devices defined in the schemes to perform the desired functions.

As with templates, scenarios are created using the wizard.

The home assistant-defined scenes, or actually scenarios, can be manually run from the web browser and web configuration interface, the FRITZ app!Smart Home or from within a FRITZ phone!Fon. For complete simplicity, the scenarios in the Smart Home can also be activated with a customizable FRITZ button!DECT 440.

At the highest level of home automation management are so-called routines, which, depending on the fulfillment of established conditions, trigger scenarios and related devices.

The routine is created using a familiar wizard.

A given routine can be run based on time (the "hour" option)

also the astronomical time of twilight or dawn

or depending on the status of another Smart Home device, such as the temperature measured by the thermostat.
