FRITZ OS is the operating system - the soul of the FRITZ router!Box. This software is responsible for the rich array of diverse functions for which FRITZ solutions are famous! and to which users have become so accustomed. The manufacturer is just releasing another major system update - FRITZ OS 8. Let's see what's new in it.

Latest eighth release of operating system for FRITZ devices! brings more than 60 major and minor updates and improvements.
These include, for example, greater transparency in viewing network devices in the router's configurator, the interface of which is a regular, familiar web browser.
Mesh networking in the home - easier device discovery with the new FRITZOS
To make network monitoring easier, the Mesh preview allows you to assign friendly labels to devices, so that instead of the enigmatic name "DESKTOP-E07LJE1" in the router's interface, you will see, for example, "Teddy Bear's computer.".
The redesigned Online Time Monitor can now additionally inform users of how much load the Internet connection is under and which network device is generating the most traffic, whether it is connected to the internal home network or a special, separate guest segment.
Today's home wireless networks can sometimes be crowded due to the large number of end devices. Optimizing traffic distribution will help on the hardware side wiFi mesh sets, and from a software perspective, the improved Wi-Fi usage graph sewn into FRITZ OS 8. With it, we can easily find out at what time the home Wi-Fi is most heavily loaded and who exactly is responsible for the load.
New version of FRITZ!OS 8, also allows users to configure the FRITZ device!Box from scratch using a smartphone and the MyFRITZ app installed on it!App that guides you through the steps of the installation process. First configuration of the FRITZ device!Box out of the box has never been complicated, and now it is even more user-friendly and intuitive, as it is carried out via your favorite phone. Just download the MyFRITZ app!, scan the QR code, and the first setup wizard will gently guide you through the process.
In a similarly easy and user-friendly way - for example, by scanning a QR code - it is possible to configure such advanced functionality as WireGuard-based VPN on smartphones, notebooks and desktops.
New FRITZ OS scenarios
The standard, FRITZ OS-supported features are complemented by a unique, extremely powerful Smart Home module. Automation in FRITZ OS can apply not only to individual devices, although centrally managed, but operating independently of each other. Smart Home templates allow you to reuse settings for other devices and/or groups of devices of the same type. Scenarios in Smart Home, on the other hand, allow you to reapply settings based on templates, and a scenario can include tasks for different types of devices.
Scenarios in FRITZ OS in the latest version, on the FRITZ door and/or window sensor configuration page!Smart Control 350 (FRITZ!DECT 350), allow you to configure window opening detection so that the system automatically sends the appropriate control signal to selected radiator thermostats.
In addition, new FRITZ OS scenarios and templates allow users to set a target temperature for radiators within a specific range. With smart lighting, you can select the brightness, saturation and color of the lights, as well as adjust the percentage of blind closures.
Routine procedures can be run in the latest software not only at a specific time, but also according to the astronomical clock, taking into account the precise times of sunrise and sunset.
Smart home system from AVM is open for cooperation with other platforms. For followers of the FRITZ Home Assistant platform, it can become an extremely valuable component of the system, which can be integrated using a special AVM FRITZ plug-in!Box Tools.
